Diablo 2 Resurrected - Renaming Items

In the days of Diablo 2, there were files called skins. When I copied and pasted the skin files into the Diablo 2 installation folder, the * mark was placed in front of the item names used as ingredients, so I could easily identify the items I needed to check.

 

Currently in Diablo 2 Resurrection, the inconvenient thing is that the item names keep appearing, and if I see a lot of item names, it prevents I from clicking the monster.

There is no mark (*) in front of the item name, so I have to look at the item names for a while.

So I was looking for mod-related content and found a good one, so I'm posting it.

 

For reference, this function is also allowed by Blizzard to support the Mod, and since it is a function that has been used for a long time, I do not think there is any problem with using it.
Both single player and multiplayer are supported.

 

1. Go to GitHub.

The first file you need is the Ladiks Casc Viewer.zip file. You can use this file to decompress the mpq file. (Check here for detailed usage)

2. Ladiks Casc Viewer.zip

Execute the CascView.exe file located in the x64 folder among the extracted files. When you run it for the first time, it asks you to specify a working folder, but you can specify it anywhere.

 

Click the Open Storage menu and select the folder where Diablo 2 Resurrection is installed, and the following screen appears.

Select the data folder and extract the global, hd, and local folders to the Work folder by clicking the Extract button.

Caution at this time!! You must have at least 30 GB of space on your hard disk before unpacking.

Copy the global, hd, local folders to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II Resurrected\Data\ folder.

If the game is installed in another folder, move it to the Data folder in that folder.

3. Edit the item name.

The location is C:\Program Files (x86)\Diablo II Resurrected\Data\local\lng\strings folder.

If you go into the folder, there are several json files. Among them, you can open and edit item-names.json using notepad or a text editor.

It is good to back up the original file before editing, and it is recommended to use a professional editor rather than notepad.

 

You can move to the location below by searching for a mana potion using the search function. I changed to MP1, MP2, MP3, MP4, MP5, etc.

Next, for items with a mark (*), find the item name and add * in front of the name.

When the modifications are complete, save and run the game.

 

4. Add command line arguments when running the game.

If you click the red border on the start screen, click the menu called Game Settings to go to the settings screen.

-direct -txt

Click the Done button.

5. Run the game and check the modified name.

The screen looks simpler, reducing eye strain.
